Blythe initially trained as a commercial photographer, working her way up to studio manager, and leading the transition from film to digital, thus making the studio one of the first fully digital commercial studios in the UK.

This was followed with five years employed in the national daily press and them two years in magazine publishing as Advertising Production Manager and then Deputy Editor, before becoming a freelance.

Blythe fell in love with Scotland whilst travelling extensively around the Highlands and Islands for both work and pleasure, and made her home here in 2004.
